A Perfect Match (David Houston And Barbara Mandrell Album)

A Perfect Match is a duet album released by American country music singers, David Houston and Barbara Mandrell.

For Barbara Mandrell, this was the first duet album she had ever recorded and would be one of two duet albums she would release during her career. David Houston had already been a successful Country singer the previous decade with his #1 Country hit, "Almost Persuaded". Mandrell on the other hand was very new to the Country music business, only releasing her first album in 1971. Their duet album spawned two major Country hits, "After Closing Time", which reached the Top 10, peaking at #6. The second single, "I Love You, I Love You" was another Top 10 Country hit, peaking at #6 again, but not released until 1973 (under the Epic label). This album also peaked at #38 on the Top Country Albums chart in 1972. The album included a duet remake of Houston's big hit from the late 60s, "Almost Persuaded".

Famous quotes containing the words perfect, match and/or houston:

Only mediocrities progress. An artist revolves in a cycle of masterpieces, the first of which is no less perfect than the last.
    Oscar Wilde (1854–1900)

The phonographs of hades in the brain
Are tunnels that re-wind themselves, and love
A burnt match skating in a urinal—
    Hart Crane (1899–1932)

In Washington, the first thing people tell you is what their job is. In Los Angeles you learn their star sign. In Houston you’re told how rich they are. And in New York they tell you what their rent is.
