A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose is a book by Eckhart Tolle, a follow-up to his first book and bestseller, The Power of Now. Tolle says "this book's main purpose is not to add new information or beliefs to your mind or to try to convince you of anything, but to bring about a shift in consciousness; that is to say, to awaken". First published in 2005, it was selected in 2008 by Oprah Winfrey for her book club, and was followed by a 10-week live online seminar with both Tolle and Winfrey. By 2009, 5 million copies had been sold in North America. How the book was written is notable in that Tolle explained to Oprah that the writing "was inspired, but not channeled" and as with his first book, he needed to be on the West Coast of North America to facilitate this flow of writing.
