Famous quotes containing the words midsummer, night and/or dream:
“Merry Margaret,
As midsummer flower,
Gentle as falcon
Or hawk of the tower:”
—John Skelton (1460?1529)
“Why must it always end this way?
A dais with woman reading, with the ruckus of her hair
And all that is unsaid about her pulling us back to her, with her
Into the silence that night alone cant explain.”
—John Ashbery (b. 1927)
“But could a dream send up through onion fumes
Its white and violet, fight with fried potatoes
And yesterdays garbage ripening in the hall,
Flutter, or sing an aria down these rooms
Even if we were willing to let it in,”
