A583 Road - Route

Route

The A583 runs from the A59 Ring Way in Preston city centre to Blackpool, terminating near the town's North Pier. It is a primary route, although there are non-primary sections in the town centres at both ends of the route.

The road passes through the village of Clifton west of Preston. The road's original route passed through Kirkham until in 1936 when bypass was taking the road around the south side of the town.

Major junctions on the road are the A5085 Blackpool Road at Lea, the A584 at Clifton, the A585 west of Kirkham and the western terminus of the M55 motorway just outside Blackpool.

no arranged terror: no forcing of image, plan,

The route through childhood is shaped by many forces, and it differs for each of us. Our biological inheritance, the temperament with which we are born, the care we receive, our family relationships, the place where we grow up, the schools we attend, the culture in which we participate, and the historical period in which we live—all these affect the paths we take through childhood and condition the remainder of our lives.
    Robert H. Wozniak (20th century)
