A470 Road

A470 Road

The A470(T) is a major long-distance road in Wales, from Cardiff on the south coast to Llandudno on the north coast. It is 186 miles (299 km) long, with, at times, a tortuous route through the country's mountainous central region, including the Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia National Park.

It is a primary trunk route throughout its length, and the southernmost 26 miles (42 km), from Cardiff Bay to Merthyr Tydfil, is mainly direct and good quality dual carriageway, but most of the route from north of Merthyr Tydfil to Llandudno is single carriageway of variable quality (and even for short distances single track) to negotiate the mountainous landscape. It passes through several town centres, right-angle (or tighter) divergent junctions and sharp curves.

Famous quotes containing the word road:

It is a happy thing that there is no royal road to poetry. The world should know by this time that one cannot reach Parnassus except by flying thither.
    Gerard Manley Hopkins (1844–1889)
