48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (United States)

The 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team ("Macon Volunteers") is a modular infantry brigade of the Georgia Army National Guard.

One of the oldest units in US Army history, the lineage of the 48th Infantry Brigade can be traced back to 1825. It is one of few units in the US military that also saw service as a unit of the Confederate States of America during the US Civil War.

Famous quotes containing the words brigade, combat and/or team:

[John] Brough’s majority is “glorious to behold.” It is worth a big victory in the field. It is decisive as to the disposition of the people to prosecute the war to the end. My regiment and brigade were both unanimous for Brough [the Union party candidate for governor of Ohio].
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)

In any combat between a rogue and a fool the sympathy of mankind is always with the rogue.
    —H.L. (Henry Lewis)

    Is my team ploughing,
That I was used to drive
    And hear the harness jingle
    When I was man alive?
    —A.E. (Alfred Edward)
