36th (Herefordshire) Regiment of Foot - 1815 - 1881

For the last sixty-five years of its existence as a separate regiment, the 36th Foot was not involved active conflict, for the most part performing garrison duties in the United Kingdom and the British Empire.

  • July - December 1815: Part of army occupying France
  • December 1815 - 1817: Southern England
  • 1817 - 1821: Malta
  • 1821 - 1825: United States of the Ionian Islands
  • 1826 - 1827: North West England
  • 1827 - 1830: Ireland
  • 1831 - 1833: Barbados
  • 1833 - 1835: Antigua
  • 1835 - 1837: St Lucia
  • 1837 - 1838: Barbados
  • 1838 - 1839: Nova Scotia
  • 1839 - 1842: New Brunswick
  • 1842 - 1845: Ireland
  • 1845 - 1846: Northern England
  • 1846 - 1847: Weedon Bec: a second or reserve battalion was formed here on 28 November 1846.
  • 1847 - 1851: United States of the Ionian Islands. Both battalions were stationed here during an insurgency. The reserve battalion was absorbed by the 1st Battalion in April 1850.
  • 1851-1852: Barbados
  • 1852-1853: Trinidad
  • 1853-1854: Barbados
  • 1854-1857: Jamaica. The regiment lost a large number of men from an epidemic of yellow fever.

  • 1863-1875: India
  • 1875-1880: England
