Playoff Seeds
After the regular season, the standard of 16 teams qualified for the playoffs. The San Jose Sharks were the Western Conference regular season champions and the Presidents' Trophy winners with the best record at 117 points. The Boston Bruins earned the first seed in the Eastern Conference with 116 points.
