2008 United States Figure Skating Championships

The 2008 United States Figure Skating Championships was the figure skating national championship to determine the national champions of the United States for the 2007–2008 season. Organized by the U.S. Figure Skating, it determined the national champions and was also used to determine the U.S. teams for the 2008 World, World Junior, and Four Continents Championships.

Skaters competed in four disciplines – men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing – across three levels of competition – senior, junior, and novice. Medals were awarded in four colors: gold (first), silver (second), bronze (third), and pewter (fourth).

The 2008 Championships took place between January 20 and 27th in St. Paul, Minnesota in the Xcel Energy Center.

Famous quotes containing the words united, states, figure and/or skating:

The real charm of the United States is that it is the only comic country ever heard of.
    —H.L. (Henry Lewis)

The genius of the United States is not best or most in its executives or legislatures, nor in its ambassadors or authors or colleges, or churches, or parlors, nor even in its newspapers or inventors, but always most in the common people.
    Walt Whitman (1819–1892)

My position is a naturalistic one; I see philosophy not as an a priori propaedeutic or groundwork for science, but as continuous with science. I see philosophy and science as in the same boat—a boat which, to revert to Neurath’s figure as I so often do, we can rebuild only at sea while staying afloat in it. There is no external vantage point, no first philosophy.
Willard Van Orman Quine (b. 1908)

In skating over thin ice, our safety is in our speed.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
