One of the three Korean casualties either perished during the incident that caused their original fall and tangling in the ropes, or the morning after before the others were freed. Some sources claim there were three Koreans tangled in the ropes whilst McDonell and Confortola were trying to rescue them. Others have the number at two Koreans and Jumik Bhote. What is certain, is that only two Korean were alive to encounter Pasang Bhote before the last serac fall.
