- Last week at Talladega, Ken Schrader filled in on the #70 Haas CNC Racing car. Schrader was the interim substitute for Dario Franchitti's #40 Chip Ganassi Racing Dodge, but failed to qualify.
- Johnny Sauter will return again to Haas and pilot their #70 ride for this race.
- New England Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss announced the formation of his own Craftsman Truck Series team, Moss Motorsports, LLC in a press conference on May 2. Moss' team was on the track starting at Bristol with Jimmie Johnson in his truck debut and a variety of drivers and will run full time in 2009.
- Carl Edwards was taken off the free agent list as he signed a three year deal with Roush Fenway Racing.
