2004 Teli Katha Massacre - Attack

Attack

The villagers had been sleeping in their dhok. They were fired upon indiscriminately. The members of VDC returned fire forcing the militants to flee in 10–15 minutes and thereby saving many lives. The deceased include seven members of the VDC and their five children. Ten others including four women and three children were injured. The killings were thought to be revenge for the villagers cooperation with the Indian army during operation Sarp Vinash. Anger against the militants ran so high that villagers had previously refused to bury militants killed in this operation by the Indian army, claiming their crimes meant they had renounced Islam.

Famous quotes containing the word attack:

I make this direct statement to the American people that there is far less chance of the United States getting into war, if we do all we can now to support the nations defending themselves against attack by the Axis than if we acquiesce in their defeat, submit tamely to an Axis victory, and wait our turn to be the object of attack in another war later on.
    Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882–1945)

It is well worth the efforts of a lifetime to have attained knowledge which justifies an attack on the root of all evil—viz. the deadly atheism which asserts that because forms of evil have always existed in society, therefore they must always exist; and that the attainment of a high ideal is a hopeless chimera.
    Elizabeth Blackwell (1821–1910)

I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched seabeams glitter in the dark near the Tennhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain. Time to die.
David Webb Peoples, U.S. screenwriter, and Ridley Scott. Roy Batty, Blade Runner, final words before dying—as an android he had a built-in life span that expired (1982)
