Famous quotes containing the words john, boy and/or billy:
“Oh for some honest lover’s ghost,
Some kind unbodied post
Sent from the shades below!
I strangely long to know
Whether the nobler chaplets wear
Those that their mistress’ scorn did bear,
Or those that were used kindly.”
—Sir John Suckling (1609–1642)
“I do not know what I may appear to the world; but to myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the seashore, and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me.”
—Isaac Newton (1642–1727)
““How old is she, Billy boy, Billy boy?
How old is she, charming Billy?”
Past six, past seven,
Past twenty and eleven,
She’s a young thing, and cannot leave her mother.””
—Unknown. Billy Boy (l. 21–25)
