1996 Atlanta Falcons Season

The 1996 Atlanta Falcons season was the team's 31st season in the National Football League. The Falcons were unable to match their previous season's output of 9–7 and failed to reach the playoffs. Atlanta started the season 0–8, going winless until November. Two of the team's three wins were over the equally inept New Orleans Saints, who also finished 3–13.

The Falcons allowed 461 points in 1996, the most in team history. Football Outsiders calculates that the 1996 Falcons had the third-worst pass defense they had ever tracked.

Famous quotes containing the words falcons and/or season:

Thus piteously Love closed what he begat:
The union of this ever-diverse pair!
These two were rapid falcons in a snare,
Condemned to do the flitting of the bat.
    George Meredith (1828–1909)

Let us have a good many maples and hickories and scarlet oaks, then, I say. Blaze away! Shall that dirty roll of bunting in the gun-house be all the colors a village can display? A village is not complete, unless it have these trees to mark the season in it. They are important, like the town clock. A village that has them not will not be found to work well. It has a screw loose, an essential part is wanting.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
