1952 College World Series

The 1952 College World Series was played at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska from June 13 to June 17. The sixth tournament's champion was Holy Cross, coached by Jack Barry. The Most Outstanding Player was Jim O'Neill of Holy Cross.

The tournament consisted of no preliminary round of play as teams were selected directly into the College World Series. From 1947–1949 and from 1954 to the present, teams competed in the NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament preliminary rounds to earn the right to play in the College World Series.

Famous quotes containing the words college, world and/or series:

Thirty-five years ago, when I was a college student, people wrote letters. The businessman who read, the lawyer who traveled; the dressmaker in evening school, my unhappy mother, our expectant neighbor: all conducted an often large and varied correspondence. It was the accustomed way of ordinarily educated people to occupy the world beyond their own small and immediate lives.
    Vivian Gornick (b. 1935)

The Germans are always too late. They are late, like music, which is always the last of the arts to express a world condition,—when that world condition is already in its final stages. They are abstract and mystical.
    Thomas Mann (1875–1955)

Every man sees in his relatives, and especially in his cousins, a series of grotesque caricatures of himself.
    —H.L. (Henry Lewis)
