The 1927 FA Cup final was between Cardiff City and Arsenal F.C.. Arsenal always made sure that a goalkeeper's jersey is washed, but it didn't go well in that final. Dan Lewis let in a soft goal as Cardiff won 1-0. He later blamed the mistake on the ball slipping from his grasp and over the line as it brushed against the shiny surface of the new jumper.
