1904 FAHL Season - League Championship and Stanley Cup Challenge

League Championship and Stanley Cup Challenge

Just days after the FAHL regular season was finished, the reigning Stanley Cup champion Ottawa Hockey Club (HC) left the CAHL and joined the FAHL. The Wanderers, FAHL regular season champions, immediately played Ottawa HC for the combined Stanley Cup/FAHL championship.

The first match, on March 2, 1904, would start a period of eight consecutive years through March 5, 1912, where these teams would co-exist and either the Montreal Wanderers (1,390 days) or the Ottawa "Silver Seven/Senators" HC (1,474 days) would hold the Stanley Cup. Only the Kenora Thistles, for 61 days in 1907 (Jan 23 through March 25), would impinge on these two teams.
