10th Street Middle School - Band Class

Band Class

Band class presents students with a variety of instruments to choose from such as the flute, clarinet, oboe, tuba, French horn, trombone, baritone, trumpet, saxophone, and percussion (drums).

Various concerts are held annually during autumn, winter, and spring.

Tenth Street is very music based. Two of the seven staff members are in rock bands. Nathan Sackman, the band teacher was involved with a rock band called, Slideshow (discontinued). They had multiple shows a month and has done some time in the recording studio. Eric Hanson, the Social Studies teacher is the bass player for the locally known, Arisen From Nothing. AFN is a metal band from Washington that has a full CD. AFN recently won the best of Western Washington award from Evening Magazine.

Every three years, the entire school goes on a field trip to Fort Worden in Washington. The students learn about marine biology and Washington state history. The trip is concluded by a concert in the converted hot air balloon hangar.

Famous quotes containing the words band and/or class:

Nothing makes a man feel older than to hear a band coming up the street and not to have the impulse to rush downstairs and out on to the sidewalk.
    Robert Benchley (1889–1945)

By bourgeoisie is meant the class of modern capitalists, owners of the means of social production and employers of wage labor. By proletariat, the class of modern wage laborers who, having no means of production of their own, are reduced to selling their labor power in order to live.
