Famous quotes containing the words post, world and/or war:

I can forgive even that wrong of wrongs,
Those undreamt accidents that have made me
Seeing that Fame has perished this long while,
Being but a part of ancient ceremony
Notorious, till all my priceless things
Are but a post the passing dogs defile.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

Has the world ever been changed by anything save the thought and its magic vehicle the Word?
    Thomas Mann (1875–1955)

It takes twenty years or more of peace to make a man; it takes only twenty seconds of war to destroy him.
    Baudouin I (b. 1930)
